Pope Professional Apprentice Program

Contract: July/August 2019 - July 2020

Summary

The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT D Theatre and Arizona’s largest professional regional theatre, seeks apprentices for its 2019-2020 centennial season.  

We will be hiring apprentices in the following areas:  Props, Scenic, Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, Wardrobe, and Costumes. Candidates with skills in multiple areas are especially encouraged to apply.

Located in the heart of the Central Arts District close to downtown, our beautiful 14-acre campus includes three theaters, a restaurant and bar, rehearsal halls, administrative offices, and costume, scenic, prop, lighting and paint shops, all on one site. We produce a wide range of theatre, from full-scale musicals to comedies, dramas and original new work. Our community outreach programs have gained national attention. With an $8 million annual operating budget, and entering our 100th season, we offer nine to twelve diverse productions every season as well as a growing Festival of New American Theatre.

Some of the exciting shows this season include: Kinky Boots, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Sound of Music, Million Dollar Quartet, Hair, and The Rocky Horror Show.  The Phoenix Theatre Company produces shows in both a 380 seat proscenium space and a 250 seat black box space, for a jam packed versatile season.  Come join our passionate and talented group of Managers, Craftspeople and Artists.

To be considered you must have a Bachelor’s degree in theatre and must be seriously seeking a career in the theatre arts. Approval is based on a cover letter/resume, interview and 3 references.  Please make sure your cover letter states which department you are applying for.

This is a full season program; contracts start July or Aug. 2019 and end July 2020.  Apprentices are provided free private housing and a weekly stipend for your volunteership.
