The 24 Hour Theatre Project is an evening of theater created in 24 hours from concept to production. There is no time to question, stumble or second guess. It takes five playwrights, five directors, and 18 to 22 actors. Every actor arrives in a costume and with a prop of choice, and the playwright takes it from there. The fun is that the plays have zero time for rewrites. It’s up to the director and actors to “make it work,” and somehow they always do!
The Phoenix Theatre Company's The 24 Hour Theatre Project is back! Five directors, five writers and up to 20 actors create, rehearse, block, memorize, tech and perform off book in just 24 hours. If chosen, the actors show up on the evening of January 26, 2019 at The Phoenix Theatre Company in full costume of their choosing, along with a hand prop, and get randomly selected into groups along with a director and a writer in front of a live audience.
All actors who have done this project in the past do not need to audition. Just email Robbie at email@example.com.
If you’ve never participated in The Phoenix Theatre Company's "Project" before, we're looking for actors all ages, all ethnicities and all types. Actors must be able to make bold choices, memorize quickly, and handle blocking, rehearsing, memorizing and teching in 12 hours to perform in front of a live audience off book. The 24 Hour Theatre Project is the most challenging and fun theatrical experience you’ll ever have! All actors must be available for 1 ½ hours on the evening of January 26, 2019 (5:30 - 7:00 p.m.) and all day long (7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.) on Sunday, January 27, 2019. NO EXCEPTIONS. Auditions will consist of memorized cold reads given out at the auditions. Sides will consist of 6-10 lines and must be off book before you audition in front of the directors. You do not need to audition in costume.
